Begin the day with an early-morning visit to Luxor’s West Bank, exploring the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, and a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon.
The 2027 Total Solar Eclipse:
Luxor will experience a Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, August 2, 2027, placing the city directly within the path of totality. The eclipse will be one of the most remarkable astronomical events visible from Egypt in 2027.
The partial phase will begin at approximately 11:40 AM, as the Moon gradually moves across the face of the Sun. Totality will begin at approximately 1:02 PM, reaching maximum eclipse at around 1:05 PM.
At maximum eclipse, the Sun will be completely covered by the Moon for approximately 6 minutes and 22 seconds. During totality, daylight will dramatically decrease, creating a twilight-like atmosphere in the middle of the afternoon. The fully eclipsed Sun will reveal the solar corona, while the surrounding sky may become noticeably darker and brighter stars and planets may become visible.
After the Eclipse:
Following the eclipse experience, enjoy lunch and time to relax. The remainder of the afternoon can remain flexible, allowing the group to rest after this exceptional astronomical experience.
Fly Back to Cairo:
Then fly back to Cairo and check in to your Cairo hotel.
