Tunis Village in Fayoum is the name of one of the places where people live in the Fayoum oasis region. It was started in the 1960s by two famous Egyptian poets who wanted to encourage others in society to follow their creative paths. In the 1980s, Evelyn Burrett, a potter from Switzerland, and her husband moved to the area and started a ceramics factory there. They managed to turn it into a pottery school in a concise amount of time, and now all the kids and teens in the area can take classes there.

The name of the village of Tunis comes from the name of the neighborhood in which the Egyptian city of Tunis is located. Most of the young people in the area still work in this place, making ceramics to support their families. This is why it continued to do so well throughout these subsequent years.
