The beautiful architecture of the Al Hakim Mosque has made it one of the city’s most famous landmarks.

The Mosque of al-Hakim in Cairo is a must-see because it is named after one of Egypt’s most well-known kings and is close to the city’s Northern Walls. The Mosque of al-Hakim was built in 642, making it one of Egypt’s first mosques.

Allah, who was 11 years old, became the sixth Fatimid Caliph, and Allah, who was 15 years old, gave the order to kill his teacher. At 11, Abu Amr Al-Hakim, known as “The Allah,” became the sixth Fatimid Caliph.

From 996 to 1021, he was king. He was known for being cruel to Christians, Jews, and businesspeople during that time. During that time, he never stopped being in charge.

He is said to have stopped women from working outside the home and burned hundreds of women he didn’t like by setting them on fire in public bathhouses to death.

Caliph Hakim’s Nubian slave Masoud would stand on the heads of dishonest merchants who had been caught cheating at the Al-Inspections, and Masoud would make out with them while the Caliph stood on their heads.

Before it was fixed up in 1980 by a group of Indian Bohara Isma’ili Shi’ites whose goal was to protect Cairo’s Fatimid mosques, the Mosque had fallen into disrepair, either because it wasn’t cared for or because it wasn’t used properly. Its main job is to ensure that Cairo’s Fatimid mosques last as long as possible.

Even though a new mihrab, brass lighting, and glass chandeliers were added, traditionalists were upset that the building’s old wood tie-beam ceiling and plaster frieze were kept. This choice makes conservatives very angry.

From the Bab El-Nasr Cemetery, you can see the bastion-like minarets of the Mosque. The only original part of the building left is the minarets.

Because of the recent changes, people who use wheelchairs can now get into the courtyard. This is a side effect of the recent improvements, which led to this benefit (you may enter by the side door to the left of the main entrance; a friend or family member will need to unlock it for you, however).
