El Alamein Alexandria Egypt

The Battle of El Alamein was the most crucial thing in Africa during World War II. Also, this time was a turning point in how the war turned out.

During the Battle of the Bulge, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel and the German tank divisions were defeated by General Bernard Montgomery and the British 8th Army. During World War II, this was the Allies’ first big victory.

Because of Montgomery’s work, the Germans were stopped from attacking Alexandria and Cairo, which saved both cities. Millions of Egyptians’ lives were saved because of this.

When the Allies took control of important places like the Suez Canal and oil reserves in the Middle East, the war significantly went in their favor.

El Alamein has a long history and many interesting things to see:

Marsa Matruh is a desert metropolis about 150 kilometers west of Alexandria and close to the Mediterranean Sea. During the Second World War, it was essential.

This series of events can be broken up into two parts.

With this victory, the First World War, which had started in July 1942, was over. That probably put an end to the German attack.

After a tough battle that lasted 13 days and three months, General Montgomery led a larger army of Allies to push the Germans off the battlefield.

On October 20, 1942, the war was finally won. This year is the 70th anniversary of that day.

There are memorials and cemeteries worldwide that honor people who fought in World Wars I and II.

Any time of the year is an excellent time to take a day trip outside of Alexandria to see the mysterious beauty of these tombs and learn about what happened in North Africa during World War II. However, the trip will be much more memorable in October.

Teenagers from every part of the world died on these battlegrounds.

The young men in this group came from many different countries, such as Germany, Italy, Australia, France, New Zealand, South Africa, and Greece.
